Track day only cars have become quite popular over the past few years. As Gear Heads, we have a natural desire to want to go to the track and drive the closest thing we can to a race car. Currently, there are some amazing options out there: BAC Mono, Caterham 7, and so on.
However, there is a new car produced in the land of the free, and the home of the brave that is ready to dominate all others: The Vandal One.
Lets hear about the new All-American. First, it isn’t really all American. The engine comes from the Honda CI IV Type-R, sadly. The standard Vandal One comes with 340hp, but the “R” spec comes with an astonishing 560hp. That’s a number that sounds American. Another not-so-American trait is how lightweight this car is. It only weights three times what the engine weighs, or 1,2224 lbs (555kg). A major factor for this weight is due to a carbon fiber monocoque, as well as many other carbon fiber pieces.
This is a seriously powerful car that weighs as much as a feather, all made possible by high tech engineering. Truely amazing. I can‘t wait to see how well this does next to a BAC or an Ariel. My bet is that it will smoke ’em.
