For those of you that don't know, I am a big watch guy. Whenever I walk by a watch boutique in a mall, I always stop in. I have many watch catalogs that fill my bookshelf and my internet history is littered with watch websites. One company that I particularly love is Tag Heuer. So, when I heard that Aston Martin, one of my favorite car companies, had made a special edition car with Tag Heuer, I was drooling.
Aston Martin decided to use their DBS Superlaggera for this special collaboration with Tag Heuer, and I am glad they did. The DBS Superlaggera is an absolutely beautiful car with proper performance. The changes made to this special edition are all visual. The exterior comes in a color that Aston Martin calls "Monaco Black". It's a black paint with metallic red flakes that make it true eye-candy. The roof and rear wing are finished in a matte carbon fiber to contrast the gloss paint. There are more carbon fiber bits throughout the car, but not in the traditional weave that we are all used to seeing. Aston Martin used a crushed carbon fiber for the interior, and all of the badges, except the Tag Heuer badge on the front fender.
Even though this special edition doesn't come with any power increase or anything to enhance its performance, it does come with an absolutely beautiful watch.
Aston Martin of The Americas President, Laura Schwab, stated "Many of our customers are also watch collectors. The common thread is an absolute obsession for precision in engineering. Partnerships help us to tell the story of our brand, and now having physical representations - through the watch and the car - bring that to life."
If you don't have nearly $400,000 lying around to spend on your next car, and you are dying to have a piece of this collection, the Tag Heuer Carrera Aston Martin watch that comes with the car only costs $6,550.
This isn't the first time that Aston Martin an Tag Heuer have done collaborations before, and I certainly hope it isn't the last.
