The auto maker out of Bavaria has just released two new versions of their American pleasing SUVs. There are now M versions of the X3 and X4. Slapping M badges on every car they make seems to be the goal for BMW. Can you really blame them? With the success of their saloons and coupes, the letter “M” has a huge following. It seems only fitting that with the shift in America going to plus size cars that their X3 and X4 get the M treatment.
Both models receive the M treatment with 3.0-liter twin turbo inline six engines. Producing 473 hp and 442 lb-ft to all four wheels, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an active rear diff. If your X3/X4 M doesn’t fee fast enough, you always the competition version. That option gives you 503 hp. 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds for the “standard” variant, the competition settles in at 4.0 seconds flat 0-62 mph.
How much will these M’s set you back? The X3 M is priced from $70,896, if you want the more stylish version that will set you back $74,395. Thats an increase of about $15,000 more than the M40i models. Is the M version worth the extra money? If these are anything like their X5/X6 M siblings, count me in. Those cars are Brilliant!
